Beazer Homes’ VISION House Las Vegas project, created in partnership with Green Builder Media™, serves as a field-validated demonstration of how high-performance and health-optimized construction can be scaled within a national production homebuilding model.

Built on a 1,769 ft² slab unique to the Las Vegas market, the Vision model home features 2×6 advanced framing, complete DuPont™ Tyvek ® HomeWrap® system, perimeter slab insulation, low-e windows, a ventilated tile roof with thermal air break, and dense-pack cellulose insulation made from 85% post-consumer recycled paper. This carbon-negative material reduces heating and cooling costs by up to 20% and absorbs sound up to 60%. In addition, the longevity of the HVAC system is increased by positioning it in a conditioned and cathedralized attic, decreasing the effort exerted by the system to heat or cool air. The efficacy of the build is demonstrated in the model’s HERS score of -2 while utilizing the solar energy system. These systems form a thermally resilient envelope that improves energy efficiency and comfort while reducing environmental impact.

The Vision model is 100% electric, including a communicating variable-speed inverter driven heat pump 16.3 SEER2 HVAC system, a ProTerra® 65-gallon hybrid electric water heater, induction range, and ventless heat pump dryer. A 4.8 kW rooftop solar system is paired with battery storage and a SPAN® smart electrical panel, enabling real-time load control, demand-shifting, and islanding for critical loads during power outages - allowing HVAC and refrigeration to operate for 1 - 3 days off-grid. The estimated $4,100 in annual energy savings results in a payback period of under six years.

Indoor environmental quality is prioritized through an ERV with MERV-8 filtration and Mohawk® SmartStrand® carpeting and PureTech® flooring - PVC-free, 70% recycled content, and 80% plant-based core. Additionally, walls were painted with Sherwin-Williams® SuperPaint®, a zero VOC paint that deconstructs carbon molecules neutralizing and dissipating odors – aiding in reducing VOC levels and improving indoor air quality. These choices limit chemical exposure and off-gassing - supporting cleaner indoor air throughout the home.

Water conservation is as critical as energy performance - especially in arid climates like Las Vegas. The Vision model includes WaterSense®-certified fixtures such as Moen® FlowSense™ faucets – reducing water output without impacting the homeowner’s use. Additionally, whole-home leak detection systems help safeguard the home and community against the impact of drought conditions and water system strain. Leak detection and auto shut-off functionality also prevent costly water damage - one of the most common insurance claims in residential construction, adding another layer of resilience at the infrastructure level.

This is not a concept or a custom build. It is the future of production homebuilding - designed to scale. By the end of 2025, every home Beazer builds will meet DOE Zero Energy Ready Home criteria. The Vision Model is a preview of what’s next: dramatically lower energy use, full electrification, resilient systems, and healthier living - delivered not as an upgrade, but as the new standard.
