About the Builder - Scherer
Building Corp.
Scott
Scherer, owner of Scherer Building Corporation, is a custom homebuilder
based in the Minneapolis – St. Paul area. To date, most of his projects
have been built in Minnesota, but Scott has plans to begin construction in
the Boulder, CO area soon. Scott has been involved with building custom
homes since the age of 14. Even since this early age, his focus has been
to go beyond satisfying his customers. He concentrates on building with
quality materials and craftsmanship and applies the systems approach to
every home he builds. According to Scott: "It doesn’t pay to do
something over, it costs me money and can cause doubt in the mind of my
customer." This attitude led him to get involved with the American
Lung Association’s Health House program back in 1995. He has been
building to the Health House criteria ever since. He is also focused on
advancing his building science education at every opportunity, mainly
through his involvement with EEBA. Scott realizes that he cannot build his
homes by himself, however, and makes sure that he aligns himself with
like-minded subcontractors. Scott also keeps his subs up-to-date on local
building science training opportunities and makes it a habit to bring one
of his sub-contractors to each EEBA conference he attends. Scott completed
his EEBA Master Builder certification at the last conference in Denver.
Design Philosophy and
Application
Scherer
Building Corporation’s focus on quality control is managed by Scott’s
hands-on approach. Scott is on-site most of the time. He is happy with
this slower pace and realizes that he would not be satisfied managing his
company from an office.
