Design Philosophy and Application

When our company become aware that moisture could cause significant structural problems and indoor air quality was deteriorating, it was easy to make the decision to spend the necessary money to cure the problem. We changed our construction standard and received the most important reward...customer satisfaction and employee pride.

  • Balanced heat recovery ventilation system 
  • 92% efficient sealed combustion furnace

  • Waterproof foundation wall system with rigid fiberglass drainage board 
  • Sealed polyethylene moisture barrier below slab 
  • Interior air/vapor barrier system, sealed poly-ethylene

Envelope Characteristics 

  • Floor area: 3,852 
  • Foundation Walls: 8" poured wall, R-3 rigid fiberglass exterior insulation, and R-11 batts interior insulation 
  • Wall system: 2x6 framing with R-19 fiberglass batts and interior sealed air/vapor barrier 
  • Attic/Roof: Raised heel truss system, R-38 blown fiberglass insulation with sealed wind-wash barrier at exterior edges 
  • Windows: Wood framed, double glazed, argon filled with low-E coating

  • Total envelope CFM at 50 pascals: 1,064 
  • 0.28 CFM/Square foot of floor
