HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DEDICATION PART OF INTERNATIONAL BUILDING
CONFERENCE 20TH CELEBRATION
Minneapolis, MN (September 25, 2002) -- The Energy &
Environmental Building Association (EEBA) will mark its 20th anniversary
with the dedication of a Habitat for Humanity home located at 1205 Lydia
Lane, Phoenix, AZ. EEBA has hosted a Habitat for Humanity (HFH) house as
part of its International Excellence in Building Conference since 1999.
EEBA will be joined this year by MASCO Environments for Living and
Andersen Corporation as major sponsors of the house.
Dedication ceremonies will begin at the HFH house at 10 a.m.,
Wednesday, October 9. The dedication will kick off a daylong building
blitz to help complete the construction of the house. Representatives of
EEBA, US DOE's Building America Program, HFH Valley of the Sun, MASCO
and Andersen Corporations will provide information on the features that
will improve the homes performance and reduce the cost to the homeowner.
Performance testing of the HVAC system will be demonstrated. (more)
Conference organizers incorporate a HFH building blitz as part of the
hands-on experience that has become a tradition of the conference.
Conference attendees volunteer a ½ day of their time to the
construction of the home and receive valuable training in advanced
building techniques as part of the experience. EEBA trainers supervise
construction during the blitz that will include product installation
demonstrations and home performance testing. The training experience
qualifies for conference credit.
The EEBA Excellence in Building conference is the industry's oldest
educational venue focusing on the house as a system for better building
performance. The conference will run from Oct 9-12 at the Sheraton
Phoenix East Hotel in Mesa, Arizona. The 4-day conference attracts an
international audience of builders, architects, designers, realtors, and
product manufacturers with over 100 educational sessions and tours.
The Energy & Environmental Building Association is an
international, membership based, nonprofit organization that promotes
the awareness, education and development of energy efficient and
environmentally responsible buildings and communities. For a complete
conference schedule visit www.eeba.org/conference.
