EEBA Institute of Building Technology

Houses that Work Seminar - Denver 2003 - Photo by Randy L. MartinDear EEBA Institute Member:

For 27 years the EEBA organization has been promoting the benefits of building science education to weather the changing climate in the industry. Your dedication to continued education through your membership in the EEBA Institute demonstrates your commitment to better building performance. It is for this reason that I am contacting you today.

As a result of the economics of our times, the EEBA Board of Directors has redirected the resources within the organization. The Board felt that the time required to manage the details of the EEBA Institute could be better spent developing new curriculum and resource materials for the Houses that Work educational series. For this reason we are contacting you to let you know that effective March 1, 2008 the EEBA Institute has been discontinued.

Measures have been implemented to provide you with recognition for the work you have completed as of March 2008. Individuals registered with the Institute as a member who have:

  • Attended 3 or more EEBA Excellence in Building or Affordable Comfort Conferences and;
  • Have taken at least 10 Institute credit classes in the last 3 years and;
  • Are enrolled in one of the following programs: Energy Star, Building America, EFL, EarthCraft, Built Green Colorado, Austin Green, or GE EcoBuilder or ALA Health House;

will be awarded the EEBA Institute Certification. Those that qualify will receive a certificate and will be listed on the EEBA website. In addition, EEBA has joined with the American Lung Association’s Health House project and as a result of joint alliance, the ALA will also recognize EEBA Institute Certified builders on their web site. If you have registered with the EEBA MasterBuilder program EEBA will honor that process. However you must have a registration on file as of January 2008.

Now more than ever, building science education can bridge the way through the
slow-down for those that apply the knowledge and marketing techniques you have learned. As EEBA redirects its efforts, we will aim to provide even more tools and resources you can use to translate the building performance benefits to increased sales. For a full listing of EEBA Houses That Work and Conference Educational Session visit our web site at www.eeba.org.

Thank you for your continued support and please don’t hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions about this transition.

Respectfully,

Kathleen Guidera
