Duncan Prahl is a registered architect and Research Manager with
IBACOS Inc. a research and consulting firm in Pittsburgh PA. His primary
focus is the oversight and management of IBACOS’ advanced systems and
applied building science research projects, including those sponsored by
the DOE’s Building America Program. Duncan’s specific research
investigates builders’ business and operational processes that enable
local implementation of higher performance homes using Building America
research results. He also works with community developers to establish a
process by which higher performance housing can be implemented by a
number of builders throughout master planned communities. His past
research includes evaluating community scale power generation strategies
such as fuel cells and other residential onsite power generation
systems, and the correlation of house size to energy efficiency and
consumption. Duncan has Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Architecture
degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Vice-President
Randy Folts

As vice president and chief operating officer, Randall Folts oversees
all field operations. With more than 20 years of experience in the
homebuilding industry, Folts has been active in operations improvement,
national customer relationship management, business development, service
expansion and marketing, business strategy development, acquisitions,
and new business integration. Prior to joining SelectBuild, he worked
with Pulte Homes/Del Webb Corporation as national vice president of
construction where he was responsible for regional, divisional and
national production-related activities, American Continental
Corporation, where he managed commercial and industrial building
projects. While with Pulte Homes, Folts has received recognition in
Presidents Bush's 2000 Energy Plan as building the best performing
production home in the world by the Department of Energy's Building
America Program. Folts hold a bachelor's degree in industrial technology
and business management from Western Michigan University.

Butch Gaudette has been with Whirlpool
Corporation for 20 years and has held various positions in Contract
Sales and Marketing. Prior to his appointment as Director of Trade
Relations, Butch was Division Manager Florida Contract Sales. In his
current position, Butch represents Whirlpool Corporation at various
national trade associations and special trade related groups. He is
part of Whirlpool’s Contract Sales & Marketing Department.

Peter joined Building Science Corporation after 6 years of working
for the Technical Services Branch of the Provincial Government of
Alberta. During his time at Alberta Infrastructure he worked on a
several hundred projects, including Health Care Centers, schools,
multi-family residential, and historic buildings. He provided forensic
investigations of facilities with building enclosure problems
as well as design reviews for new and retrofit construction projects. He
focused on the examination and analysis of mass and energy transfer
through construction assemblies to prevent water accumulation from
exterior water leakage or condensation within the building enclosure.
The experience gained from this forensic work was used to set new
standards and design guidelines for Alberta Infrastructure owned and
funded projects.
Peter's focus then shifted to the energy efficiency and
sustainability of building enclosure construction assemblies. He
participated on several LEED projects and worked on creating standards
for sustainability and integrated design to be used for all Alberta
Government owned and funded facilities. At Building Science Corporation,
Peter is responsible for providing design review of
building enclosure drawings and specifications, and construction site
inspections and testing. He is continuing work in the development of
recommended construction details for residential building enclosures.
Peter is also working on providing systems engineering analysis for high
energy efficiency homes under the Building America Program.

Robert Broad
Director of Product Design

Robert Broad is the director of product design for the Nevada Area of
Pulte Homes and Pulte Building Systems. In this role, he oversees all
structural engineering, truss design, value engineering, estimating and
starts processing for Pulte’s Las Vegas operations. Mr. Broad has worked
for Pulte for 10 years in a variety of roles, including Customer
Service, Construction Management, Purchasing, Building Science and
Research and Development. Prior to joining Pulte’s Las Vegas operations,
Robert spent seven years with Pulte Home Sciences. As a founding member,
he helped develop and patent innovative technology for production home
building.
Mr. Broad has degrees in Architecture, Civil Engineering, and
Construction Engineering. He has been an active participant in the DOE
Building America Program, a committee member for BOCA, served on the
committee for ICC-ES SIP Acceptance Criteria and the structural
committee for the SNBO 2006 ICC/IRC code adoption.

As
a professional engineer, trainer, author and industry consultant, Gord
Cooke has been an effective and passionate educator and advocate for
better building practices, improved indoor air quality and energy
efficiency during the past two decades.
Gord brings to his training the logic and integrity of a professional
engineer and the passion of one committed to helping the residential
construction industry build and sell better homes. Based on homeowner
market research he has conducted, Gord has also pioneered new training
programs designed to assist builders in the sales and marketing of
higher performing, energy efficient homes – helping builders more
effectively tell their story to customers and sell more homes.
As a practicing professional engineer, Gord has particular expertise in
developing innovative HVAC systems designs and indoor air quality
solutions for builder clients. With this expertise as a background he is
uniquely equipped and talented at taking the complex issues of building
science and breaking them into readily digestible elements with
practical real-world applications for all audiences.
His building science training curricula covers the gamut from basic and
advanced building science principles through managing indoor air quality
to HVAC system design.
In addition, Gord was the author and instructor for the Build Comfort
Program for Union Gas and Enbridge Gas, has created curricula for and
trained at Seneca College, and conducted training for the Canada
Mortgage and Housing Corporation, ASHRAE, and Natural Resources

Gord also sits on the Board of the Energy & Environmental Building

Steven M. Johnson is a 15-year employee of the Andersen Corporation.
During that time, he has been involved with both new product development
projects and continuous product improvement efforts in the Research and
Technology department. His current work includes Code and Regulatory
Affairs, product certification and window installation processes. Steve’s
professional interests include building science, building durability,
energy efficiency, and sustainability. He has bachelor degrees in
Materials Science and Engineering; and Chemistry from the University of
Minnesota- Institute of Technology. Johnson is currently serving as a
Board member of EEBA and of Energy Alley, a program of the Minnesota
Environmental Initiative.

Jim Larsen

Relying on his 20+ years of experience in the research and
development of glass products, Mr. Larsen’s primary responsibility is
supporting the recognition of efficient windows through building energy
codes at both the national and local level.
Jim also provides product support through website development,
product brochures, on-site training, and building energy research.
Mr. Larsen has a mechanical engineering degree, is a member of
ASHRAE, a past chairman of the ASTM insulating glass subcommittee,
currently sits on the board of directors for the National Fenestration
Rating Council (NFRC), the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA),
and the Energy And Environmental Building Association (EEBA), is a team
member of the DOE Building America program, and a member of state energy
code committees in Florida and Minnesota.

Neil is nationally recognized for his expertise in the field of
building science and duct system diagnostics. He has inspected miles of
duct work, repaired hundreds of square feet of unintentional openings,
and tested close to a couple thousand homes and hundreds of commercial
buildings. Also, he has worked with numerous homeowners and builders,
both residential and commercial, in finding solutions to indoor air
quality and moisture problems. In addition, he has co-authored numerous
scientific papers and articles relating to both commercial and
residential building diagnostics and repair, with an emphasis on
uncontrolled airflow and it's effect on building performance. He has
been a trainer for many utilities, and at the conferences organized by
the Energy Efficient Building Association (EEBA) and Affordable Comfort.

Brad comes from a long line of residential craftsmen. The son and
grandson of carpenters, he has been in the building industry for over 20

Dean Talbott is a program manager and customer service representative
for Minnesota Power, an electric utility serving northern Minnesota
based in Duluth. Dean is responsible for the development, marketing, and
implementation of a variety of residential conservation and load
management programs and provides consultation and resource services to
the utilities customer base. He works closely with building
professionals, consumers, and manufacturers to foster and promote
healthy home construction and broad based energy conservation and
sustainability.
He currently serves as Project Manager for several MP utility
programs, including: Triple E New Construction, Low Income Energy
Partners, Renewable Energy/Distributed Generation, and various research
and development projects.
Talbott recently has been the project coordinator for the Millennium
Star Model Energy-Saving Demonstration home, and oversees the

Theresa Weston currently leads building science technology development
for DuPont Non-Wovens within North America. Theresa has developed and
introduced to market several new products. She participates in building
science research programs and in standards and codes development. Theresa
has over 15 years experience in materials and fiber development and is an
inventor of three U. S. patents with an additional patent pending. Theresa
has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Chemical
Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. In addition to
the EEBA BOD, she sits on the Board of Directors of the Building
Environment and Thermal Envelope Council of the National Institute of
Building Science and is actively involved with many professional
